Meet the Cast of The Remarried Empress

This is a dream cast, seriously. The lead actors are all massive stars.

Shin Min-a (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Our Blues) is the flawless Empress Navier. She’s the perfect Empress whose husband is a total cheater. Shin confessed at the preview party that she was very interested in the original webtoon’s screen translation. She called it a new kind of project for the industry.

Ju Ji-hoon (Light Shop, Kingdom) plays Emperor Sovieshu. He is Navier’s unfaithful husband, attracted to a formerly enslaved person. Ji-hoon made a joke about his royal role. He said his debut role was a crown prince, so this is familiar territory.

Lee Jong-suk (Big Mouth, W) is Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom. He’s hiding a dark secret that Navier soon reveals. He helps her reclaim her throne. Jong-suk’s return marks the end of his military service.

Lee Se-young (The Red Sleeve, The Crowned Clown) is Rashta. She was a runaway slave who became Sovieshu’s concubine. She introduced her character with a great line. She’s never done a fantasy project before. Rashta starts pure but gradually becomes consumed by greed.

This drama is based on Naver’s massively popular webtoon. It has over 2.6 billion viewers! The Remarried Empress follows Navier’s inspiring and complicated journey. Emperor Sovieshu shockingly wants a divorce. He wants to marry his mistress, Rashta, instead. Navier doesn’t crumble like a typical female lead. She agrees, but only if she can remarry Prince Heinrey. He happens to be from the rival Western Kingdom.

What makes this story so ridiculously captivating? Navier is absolutely not a victim. She decides to control her destiny using political smarts and strategic alliances. The Western Kingdom offers her a fantastic new beginning. She is highly valued and appreciated there.

Meanwhile, Sovieshu slowly realises what he is seriously missing. The story promises high-stakes court intrigue and intricate romantic relationships. Plus, we get a satisfying arc of revenge.

The webtoon has already been translated into ten languages. It has a vast international audience, especially in Japan. Writers Yeo Ji-na and Hyun Choong-yeol created the killer screenplay. Director Jo Soowon brings his experience from great films. He directed both Pinocchio and Still 17.

When Can We Watch The Remarried Empress on Disney+?
