Made in Korea Trailer Reveals Hyun Bin–Jung Woo-Sung’s Explosive Showdown
This is the terrifying question at the heart of the newest Disney+ thriller. The official Made in Korea trailer dropped recently. It gave us a chilling look at Hyun Bin’s darkest character. This six-episode series is set in 1970s South Korea. Get ready for the wildest battle between ruthless power and true justice. The internet is already going absolutely wild over this epic actor clash. Are you ready for Christmas Day chaos?
The Official Trailer Dropped: Hyun Bin’s Darkest Character Yet
The new Made in Korea official trailer opens with a dramatic scene. Baek Ki-tae, Hyun Bin’s character, gives a solemn salute. He stands before the Korean flag. This symbolic gesture immediately suggests that something dark lies beneath his patriotic surface. When prosecutor Jang Geon-young questions him about joining the KCIA, Ki-tae is quick with an answer. “I joined to serve my country,” he says firmly. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) loved that intense moment.
However, his actions tell a much different story. Ki-tae works as a KCIA agent during the daytime. He masterminds illegal smuggling operations at night. Seriously, who saw that coming? His scathing declaration in the trailer raises alarming questions. “This is also a national duty,” he proclaims. “This too is patriotism.”
The line makes you wonder where loyalty truly ends. Where does personal greed actually begin? The final scene shows Ki-tae’s chilling statement. “I’m just a businessman,” he says calmly. That line was immediately followed by jaw-dropping airborne action. Viewers were stunned!
Hyun Bin’s character poster is pure perfection. It shows him wearing an earpiece. His silhouette is framed dramatically against a shirt. The shirt looks just like the Korean peninsula. Then comes his deep voiceover. “Someone has to die to make this game finally be over,” he says. “And it won’t be me.” Director Woo Min-ho has been saying this is Hyun Bin’s most intricate appearance. The beloved Crash Landing on You star completely transforms himself. You might not even recognize him!

Jung Woo-sung vs. Hyun Bin: The Epic Battle We Need
You know the cast of a series is stacked when the rivalry starts with the casting announcement. Hyun Bin is Baek Ki-tae, the highly ambitious KCIA agent. He uses the entire nation as his personal business model. His agency, Vast Entertainment, first confirmed casting in February 2024. We are finally seeing the stunning results of that confirmation! Hyun Bin brings both passion and a real sense of menace to this power-hungry character.
Then we have legendary actor Jung Woo-sung. He plays Jang Geon-young. He is the prosecutor with “animalistic abilities and incredible persistence.” Jang Geon-young will stop at nothing. He intends to halt Ki-tae’s corruption and restore justice. The dynamic between these two acting giants promises explosive battles. Their chemistry alone is worth the watch. Fans couldn’t stop talking about their intense on-screen showdowns.
But wait, there is even more stellar casting. Woo Do-hwan plays Baek Ki-hyun. He is Ki-tae’s brother, a military officer. Ki-hyun struggles with some complicated feelings and his own ambition. The supporting cast is incredible. It features lobbyist Won Ji-an. We also see Seo Eun-soo as investigator Oh Ye-jin. Cho Yeo Jeong plays Bae Geum-ji. Jung Sung-il is Chief Secretary Cheon Seok-joong. Other famous cast members include Kang Gilwoo, Lily Franky, and Park Yong-woo. The whole team is imposing.
The Powerhouse Team Bringing 1970s South Korea to Life.
A cast this good needs a world-class production team. Director Woo Min-ho will make his streaming debut with this show. You already know his work from major film hits. He is famous for films such as Inside Men, The Drug King, and The Man Standing Next. His long history with political thrillers makes him the perfect choice. Seriously, who else could capture this period so well?
Screenwriters Park Eun Gyo, of Mother and The Silent Sea fame, and Park Joon-suk, who wrote A Normal Family, created the incredible script. The music composer is Jo Yeong-wook. He is responsible for the iconic scores of Oldboy and The Handmaiden. This collaboration feels absolutely perfect.
Hive Media Corp produced the show. They are the same company behind box office smashes. Their credits include 12.12: The Day and Inside Men. The series was filmed across multiple locations. They shot in Korea, the Czech Republic, and Germany. This really helps achieve that genuine 1970s feel. The massive production budget is estimated to be W70 billion. That’s about $53 million USD! This makes it one of the highest-priced Korean productions ever. Initial reports suggested this show could be a sequel to 2018’s The Drug King. Hive Media Corp firmly denied any connection.
